Today We just want to enjoy calculus again, not have it be another same ole slog. Calculus meant you were going to graduate school for something, like physics. It's not like, say, History, where you can take U. EVERYTHING (almost) in ALL those courses comes back to haunt you in calculus! Calculus was a college thing, and not even first-year course. Calculus is one of the most important tools being used in sciences, engineering, IT, etc. History 1-A (beginnings to Civil War) and 1-B (Reconstruction to Present) in either order. I also enjoy advanced mathematics, and I have very much enjoyed teaching calculus, linear algebra, probability, abstract algebra, and topology. These guys are great at group theory, and seek to find and enjoy calculus of variations and solving Green's functions. To see why this is useful, think of how much cable you would need to hang a suspension bridge. I really enjoyed calculus in high school and college… but it's been 20 years since I studied it. In case you haven't seen it, I made a song parody about some of the basic derivatives rules in Calculus to the tune of Ceelo's "Forget you." Enjoy! I was astounded, horrified and angry. If I told my Calculus teacher that Calculus was my favorite class, she would be shocked. I asked her a simple question about percentages – something like “What's 10% of 90?” and she didn't have a clue. So will data science go the same way? Calculus was what math could really do!
